POP ART ARTISTS
Pop Art appeared in Great Britain in the mid-1950s. The word, an abbreviation of popular art, was first pronounced in 1955 by Lawrence Alloway, English art critic, member of the Independent Group, created within the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. The pop art trend is characterized by its use of images taken from popular culture. Artists of the pop art trend use images of movie stars, advertisements, comic books or even everyday consumer objects. The images are in a colorful work that attracts spectators and art lovers. Artists use primary colors like red, yellow and blue which create bright and also satirical works.Pop Art artists adopted an ironic and ambivalent approach, criticizing the consumer society while using it as a source of inspiration.
